Throughout history, mothers from all cultures have breastfed their babies. Some cultures have specific traditions or practices surrounding breastfeeding. For example, did you know that in some fishing villages in Hong Kong the mothers traditionally only breastfeed from the right breast? Do you come from a culture that has a special tradition around breastfeeding? Maybe a special food for breastfeeding mothers to eat? Or maybe a traditional narrative that the longer the baby breastfeeds for the better wrestler they will become! We’d love you to come along and share your culture with us.

Connect & Share sessions involve getting together to participate in a facilitated group chat on a particular topic. After a general welcome and introduction we will have around 15-20 minutes of formal discussion on the chosen topic, followed by informal social time and individual support with a breastfeeding counsellor.  For attendees wanting to find out more on the topic, the facilitator will direct them to supporting ABA resources.

Participants are encouraged to share experiences, ask questions, and provide input.

This is a very relaxed meet up – it’s fine if you come late/leave early – we know what it’s like to be operating on baby time! Partners, expectant parents, friends, and children are welcome.
